Beer Goals 2022 - Result

My beer goals for 2022 were as follows (with inline comments):

• Get from 198 to 202 Ratebeer countries       [Goal achieved 2022-12-31]
• ✅ Again, thanks to two trades managed to get to exactly 202. Climbed up the list from joint 10th to 9th.
• Get from 296 to 308 Ratebeer regions       [Goal achieved 2022-09-24]
• ✅ Managed to get to 311 regions, so 15 new ones.
• Rate a beer from the last missing style
• ❌ No luck this year either.
• Reduce styles I have tried less than 5 beers from 7 to 4       [Goal achieved 2022-07-23]
• ✅ Managed to get 3 new styles to 5.
• Reduce styles I have tried less than 10 beers from 26 to 18      [Current status: 22]
• ❌ Only managed to get 4 new styles to 10.
• Get from 1514 to 1575 breweries      [Goal achieved 2022-07-20]
•  ✅ Did much better than expected, reached 1641 breweries. Tried 127 new breweries this year, compared to 72 last year. Helped by more travelling compared to 2021.
• Get from 859 to 1050 Swiss ratings        [Goal achieved 2022-09-24]
• ✅ Did much better and ended the year on 1126, so 267 new ones.
• Get from 261 to 300 Swiss breweries      [Goal achieved 2022-09-10]
• ✅ Did pretty well, reached 309 Swiss breweries, so 48 new ones this year.

• Rate a beer from the last missing canton (Appenzell Ausserrhoden)      [Goal achieved 2022-03-04]
• ✅ Visited the only brewery in the canton and tried both their beers on tap.
• Reduce cantons I have tried less than 10 beers from 9 to 2      [Current status: 4]
• ❌ This was harder than expected, only managed to get 5 more cantons to 10 beers.
• Increase cantons I am in the top-8 raters of beers from 16 to 24      [Goal achieved 2022-12-19]
• ✅ Managed to reach this goal and retain it, and at exactly 24/26 cantons in the top-8 raters of beers.
• Increase cantons I am in the top-4 raters of breweries from 20 to 24      [Goal achieved 2022-03-18]
• ✅ Managed to reach this goal and retain it, and at exactly 24/26 cantons in the top-4 raters of breweries.
• Get from 176 to 200 Fribourg ratings       [Goal achieved 2022-08-27]
• ✅ Helped by the return of the Fribourg Beer Festival, reached 211 Fribourg ratings, so 35 new ones.

Pretty happy with reaching 10 out of 13 of my 2022 goals!

• Appearance: Very dark brown, near black. Decent, dark tan head.
• Aroma: Dark malt, roasted. Coffee notes.
• Taste: Very dark malt, nicely roasted. Some coffee and dark chocolate. Well balanced.
• Bought: Hako Getränke, 330 ml, CHF 10.00
• Score: 3.8 (Aroma 8/10, Appearance 3/5, Taste 8/10, Palate 3/5, Overall 16/20)

• Appearance: Dark brown, good sized light tan head. 
• Aroma: Lightly roasted, dark malt.
• Taste: Dark malt, slight lactose. Lightly roasted. Decent.

Castel Malawi Doppel Munich

Ratebeer country #202 (2022 goal achieved!):

• Name: Castel Malawi Doppel Munich, 6.0%, Malawi
• Appearance: Dark brown, small dark tan head.
• Aroma: Slight brown sugar, a bit of dark malt.
• Taste: Some dark malt, hint of brown sugar sweetness. Quite watery.

Officina della Birra Innah

• Name: Officina della Birra Innah, 6%, Switzerland
• Appearance: Dark orange golden. Starts clear, ends murky. Decent, white head.
• Aroma: Medium to dark fruits. Some hops, but not much. Pale malt.
• Taste: Pale malt, medium fruits. A bit of hops. Low, lingering bitterness.

• Appearance: Very pale golden, clear. Small, fizzy white head.
• Aroma: Grains, cheap pale malt, basic hops.
• Taste: Very pale malt, grains. Quite bitter, actually. Basic lager.

• Appearance: Light golden, mostly clear.  Good sized off-white head.
• Aroma: Light fruits, pale malt, crispy hops.
• Taste: Pale malt, good hops, floral. Light fruits. Good balance.
