  • Appearance: Dark ruby, clear. Slight light tan head.
  • Aroma: Malt, some dark fruits, caramel sweetness. 
  • Taste: Medium malt, caramel sweetness. Some spices. Smooth. Merry Christmas in August!
  • Bought: Trade with Grumbo - thanks!, 500 ml
  • Score: 3.4 (Aroma 7/10, Appearance 3/5, Taste 7/10, Palate 3/5, Overall 14/20)

St Peter's Old Style Porter

  • Appearance: Very dark brown, nice off-tan head.
  • Aroma: Dark malt, roasted, coffee.
  • Taste: Nice dark malt, roasted. Slight coffee and dryness, but still smooth.
  • Bought: Coop, 500 ml, CHF 4.90

  • Appearance: Medium brown, ok amount of light tan head.
  • Aroma: Honey, then more honey. Some dark malt.
  • Taste: More honey, though no sweetness. Dark malt. Cocoa bitterness?
  • Bought: Halle aux Boissons, 500 ml, CHF 4.50

  • Appearance: Copper orangy brown. Not much head at all.
  • Aroma: Fruit, malt and hops.
  • Taste: Malt and hops. Dries out your mouth. Bitter aftertaste.

St Peter's Cream Stout

GR received a 12-bottle St Peter's mixed case after helping out an ex-colleague, and kindly gave some of them to me. First up was this one, which was slightly disappointing:

  • Aroma: Burnt and roasted, chocolate and coffee.
  • Taste: Quite sour. Burnt, smokey. Coffee and chocolate again.
