  • Appearance: Basically black, seemingly clear. Some dark tan head.
  • Aroma: Dark malt, a bit of alcohol. Chocolate.
  • Taste: Dark malt, coffee notes, quite a bit of chocolate. Smooth. Very good.
  • Bought: Total Wine & More (Sterling), 355 ml, $4.99
  • Score: 4.1 (Aroma 8/10, Appearance 4/5, Taste 9/10, Palate 4/5, Overall 16/20)

Southern Tier Old Man Winter Ale

  • Name: Southern Tier Old Man Winter Ale, 7.7%, United States
  • Appearance: DOB 7/11-2011. Dark redish brown. Clear. Some light tan head.
  • Aroma: Malt, fruit, caramel.
  • Taste: Nice darkish malt, smooth fruit, caramel, nice balance. Sweet. Warming, which is good on a cold, rainy Swiss "summer" day.
  • Bought: Erzbierschof, 355 ml, CHF 4.90

  • Aroma: Dark malt, roasted.
  • Taste: Dark malt, slight coffee, roasted. Sweetness? Good.
